Born in Dolina, Galicja, Austria to Joseph Lorenz and Karolina Strömich. Ralph G Lorenz married Mabel Dana in 1937. They had six children.

Ralph G. Lorenz was the former owner of the Mayflower Hotel and operated the Mayflower from 1939 to 1989. He was responsible for numerous civic projects, including the creation of many of the public parking lots, which helped the growth of the community. He was an early supporter of the DDA and led by example by caring about the Plymouth Community in nearly everything he did.
