For decades, Walt has been a familiar and respected figure in Plymouth, contributing to the city's growth, civic life, and charitable causes.
Originally from Rhode Island, Walt moved with his family to Chicago in 1956 and attended Illinois State University. In 1965, just shy of graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After completing boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, he was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. After settling in Plymouth, Walt built a successful career in residential construction and became known for his dedication to quality, integrity, and community involvement. Over the years, he played a role in shaping Plymouth's neighborhoods while building lasting relationships with residents, business leaders, and local organizations.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Walt was deeply involved in the Plymouth community. Along with several local business owners, he helped establish the popular Chef's Club, a group that prepared gourmet meals and special dining experiences for charity auctions and community fundraisers. The Chef's Club became a beloved fixture at local philanthropic events, helping raise funds for numerous charitable causes while bringing people together around great food and community spirit.
Walt also operated an art gallery in downtown Plymouth, reflecting his lifelong appreciation for art and culture.
Now retired, Walt is recognized not only for his business accomplishments but for his lasting contributions to Plymouth's civic, charitable, and cultural life. His legacy is one of service, entrepreneurship, generosity, and a deep commitment to the community he has proudly called home for many years.
